At Apache Stainless, we excel in project management for custom stainless vessels, including process-based solutions and contract-manufactured additions that support wide-scope projects. Recently, we undertook a critical project for a chemical manufacturer that required a small vessel integrated mobile skid with a stringent ship date.
The project began with the customer providing a 2-D drawing and P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram) Process Engineering Flow Scheme, detailing process connections, hook-ups, instrumentation, and controls. The project engineering team advanced the project, transforming the initial 2-D design into a comprehensive 3-D model. This 3-D design gave the project team clearances and requirements validation, ensuring seamless integration.
Effective communication and collaboration with the customer were paramount. We worked closely to add components and design the piping and supports throughout the integrated layout, ensuring they did not interfere with the process or access. This meticulous attention to detail was crucial for the project’s success.
Many custom parts and components were received and precisely verified against the engineered scope. Our project management team made necessary adjustments to ensure the accuracy and fit of all parts. Additionally, Apache engineered robust supports to handle the weight of the substantially rated piping under pressure, and a custom cart to provide support mobility for the completed skid.
From project scope to the ship date, the skid met the delivery schedule of 4 ½ months. This achievement was made possible through dedicated and experienced project management and engineering, along with the skilled work of our certified ASME welders and fabricators.
