The Manufacturing Business Alliance (MBA) held their first awards banquet since the group founded in 2013. The MBA is a group that was organized to promote manufacturing careers in the greater Dodge County, Wisconsin area.

Raven Salzer, a student at Beaver Dam High school in Wisconsin was awarded the Youth in Manufacturing Award. He has filled his high school career with manufacturing courses. Raven has also had great success in Middle College, a collaborative program between Madison Area Technical College, Moraine Park Technical College and the Workforce Development Board of South Central Wisconsin.

The Manufacturing in Education Award was presented to David Selier, a Technical Education high school teacher in Mayville, Wisconsin. Dave was an early adapter of Project Grill, which is an educational focused design and fabrication project with participation from different high schools and manufacturers. Dave also helps to inspire others to replicate the program.

Kayla Ebert was awarded the Career in Manufacturing Award. Kayla has had work experience in welding and fabrication and has returned to technical programs in industrial education while working at Mayville Engineering Company in Mayville, Wisconsin.

The Manufacturing Partnership Award was presented to Breuer Metal Craftsmen, accepted by Bernie Breuer who has been a continuous supporter for apprenticeship programs, business and education partnerships for over 20 years.

The banquet included an inspiring presentation by Craig Cegielski, a Technical Education Teacher in the Eau Claire, Wisconsin area. He has developed a manufacturing business education model where students learn all the elements of operating a manufacturing business including sales, marketing, engineering, fabrication and accounting. These lessons are learned out of an actual manufacturing business called Cardinal Manufacturing.

“It was really a nice celebration to honor our youth, educators and promoters of manufacturing in the greater Dodge County area,” says Pam Korth, MBA Committee Chair and HR Manager at Apache Stainless Equipment Corporation.

The MBA is organized under the Beaver Dam Chamber of Commerce as an official affiliate organization.  Since 2013, the MBA has been engaged in providing networking between manufacturers, business and educational institutions and works directly with the Wisconsin Workforce Development Board of South Central Wisconsin for resources and support.  MBA’s activities include marketing and communication programs and public events to promote manufacturing in the greater Dodge County, Wisconsin region.
